Christmas at Disney World is "the most wonderful time of the
year”
Every year on special nights through November and December, Mickey
and his friends celebrate the holiday season with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas
Party. A special ticket event with entertainment, activities, a holiday-themed
parade (starring Santa!) and free cookies & hot chocolate though the
park.
From the decoration and lights to the extra special holiday shows
an amazing time is to be had by all and we had a ball at this year’s exclusive
event. Read on for more of the highlights from our visit – it’s never too early
to plan your trip to next year’s party!
Getting
tickets
The hardest part of getting into the Christmas Party is getting
tickets. They tend to sell out in a flash, so you have to really and keeping an
eye on the date they will be released. This year they went on sale May 1 and
were sold out in a few weeks!
You need a separate ticket to get into the party – other than the
regular park admission. The party runs from 7 – 12am; at seven they usher
guests without party passes out of the park, leaving room for party goers.
In addition to snagging tickets, you’ll want to make any dinner
reservations when you book – even with fewer people in the park; dining options
can become really congested.
Highlights
Our favourite part of the night (after the cookies & hot
chocolate!) was the minimal (if at all) queues for attractions! We would jump
off a ride, run around to the entry queue and be back on the ride within 5 mins.
Some of the rides in Fantasyland the cast members would ask if we wanted to
ride again and we didn’t even need to get off then on again!
Highlighted
attractions
Just like the regular attractions, most of the shows and events
run a cycle throughout the evening so you get multiple chances to see any given
show.
We were able to see all the shows over two nights, some were
excellent and not to be missed while a few were great if you could fit them in.
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade was fantastic and not to
be missed! It starts in Frontierland and ends in the Town Square. The second
parade was significantly less crowded than the first, we got a place easily upfront
with no one in front or crowding us.
Belle’s Enchanted Christmas – runs several times throughout the
night and is a great show where Belle tells the story of her Enchanted
Christmas at the Beast’s castle. Great show and the Princess fans will love
this one!
The brand-new stage show Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show is
performed in Tomorrowland and replaces Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas
show – This was good but only if you can work it into your night.
The last stand out is Holiday Wishes Fireworks! This is an
absolute must – it’s always busy and getting a good place to stand/see can be
tricky but it’s worth all the trouble! And nothing beats walking down main
street with the (artificial) snow falling after just having seen the fireworks spectacular!
If you’re traveling between November and the end of December, the
Christmas Party is definitely a must attend event!
